Young Henrys Presents at Kelly’s On King
Returning to the Inner-West with a killer lineup of live music, community brewers and distillers, Young Henrys, announce the next round of their Young Henrys Presents series, this time popping up at Bootleggers, upstairs at Kelly’s on King. Shouting free entry throughout December, Young Henrys will be bringing along Sonic CTRL, Warren, Beyond The King, Julia why?, Land Systems, RAAVE TAPES and more for another mammoth summer session of great music and great beer with mates.
Kicking off on Friday December 2, Young Henrys Presents will be opening with the eclectic indie-rock sounds of Sonic CTRL. Treating fans to a slew of singles this year like “Down The Rabbit Hole” and “Otherside,” the Sydney musicians will be drizzling Bootleggers with their chaotic crockpot of heavy rock, punk, folk and pop-rock energy. As the night continues to fire up and Young Henrys fuels the dance floor, funk-soul infusion of Sydney-based four-piece, The Corners, will electrify Kelly’s before rounding off the night with the blissful tunes of local crew, Beyond The King.
Powering into Friday, December 9, the beer, cocktails and music celebration will carry on with Warren. Having shared the stage with beloved local acts Poolroom. and Sweetie, the Sydney glam-rock showstoppers will be delivering non-stop heaters this December. Next up, Sydney-based head-bangers Second Idol will be storming the stage, exerting the full force of their unapologetically grungy debut EP Defense Mechanisms. Last but not least to grace the stage is Julia Why? Boasting two albums that received love from triple j Unearthed and The Guardian, her crowd-swaying shoegaze is guaranteed to be the perfect closer, setting the mood for Young Henrys frothies to flow on final rounds.
Closing off Kelly’s on King edition of Young Henrys Presents on Friday, December 16, is the one-man-act of Nathan Moas’ Land Systems. Fresh off his 2021 full length project Elm, Land Systems have been an immovable force in the local electronic scene. He has continued to set himself apart through a carefully constructed combination of gritty distortion with the ambiance of his colorfully lush melodies. Rolling in next is Sydney trio miramar, who will join the party and shower ravers with their new pop-electronic banger “desensitised.” Party goers can guarantee to be sweating on the dance floor during their set, as the crew have been on an upwards trajectory, earning a reputation as one of Sydney’s most dynamic live acts on the scene. Calling last rounds mid December, RAAVE TAPES will be sure to put on an unforgettable performance, sprinkling their captivating catalogue of tunes onto the wave of punters on the Kelly on Kings floor.
Keeping drinks pouring all night long, Young Henrys will be serving up drink specials throughout the series, including cheap Newtowner pints each night, with additional mouth-watering beers on tap this December.
Bringing together an array of eclectic Sydney live acts together in one of Newtown’s oldest pubs (established in 1859), Young Henrys Presents continues to celebrate community spirit, live music and quality beer amongst mates. Shining a light onto Australia’s glowing talent pool throughout the month of December, Young Henrys are shouting free entry to ensure you don’t miss your chance to join the celebration.
