Nina Nesbitt: Australian 2019 Tour

^^

When: Tuesday 28th May
Where: Metro Theatre

Making waves across the globe with recent singles ‘The Best You Had’ and ‘Loyal To Me’, streaming sensation NINA NESBITT has today announced a national headline tour of Australia in support of her brand-new album “The Sun Will Come Up, The Seasons Will Change” – out now on Cooking Vinyl. The UK Pop starlet will begin her tour at Sydney’s Metro Theatre on May 28 before heading to Melbourne and Brisbane on May 29 and 30, respectively. The Nina Nesbitt of 2018 is not the Nina of 2013. The new album has been three years in the making and bears no hint of compromise as she demonstrates her unique talent for acute lyrical observations and ear-worm melodies. Heralding a musical change of direction with more obvious pop influences, the album is a scintillating journey through a whole range of genres and moods. “This is the album I always wanted to make on my own terms. It’s an honest account of somebody in their early ‘20s, giving a real window into their often-ever-changing life,” Nina says. Imagined within the four walls of her Fulham (London) bedroom, Nina would arrive home after studio sessions with other musicians and continue writing for herself late into the night. “At that time, I was a songwriter for other artists, and I missed writing autobiographical songs, alone, for myself,” she says. The results speak for themselves. Billboard magazine exclaimed it to be, “an iridescent work of pop mastery, showcasing Nesbitt’s proficiency as a songwriter, vocalist and producer,” and The Independent stating that, “Nesbitt offers blunt songwriting in a genre that far too often deals in vague clichés.” Released on Cooking Vinyl, the new album has been a long-time in the making and comes loaded with highly acclaimed singles such as the latest single ‘Colder’, produced by Fraser T Smith (Adele/Stormzy/Drake/Florence & the Machine). Her first single ‘The Best You Had’ has accumulated 47 million streams and 2.2 million plays on YouTube – with Taylor Swift even adding the song to her “favourite songs” iTunes playlist upon its release. Having grown-up in a small village just outside Edinburgh, Nina Nesbitt enjoyed a whirlwind of success with the “Peroxide” album, but she was soon ready to move on. An organic evolution, her 2016 track ‘Chewing Gum’ was the sound of her breaking out of her comfort zone and fully indulging her love of pop. Her desire to challenge herself continued with the low-key “Life in Colour” EP which found Nina writing emotional and sometimes dark stories that were inspired by experiences which fans had sent to her. Still only 24-years-old, Nina Nesbitt has found a way to make it work for her in an industry that often doesn’t give you the time to settle into the artist you want to be. Having toured extensively across the UK, USA and Europe with artists such as Jake Bugg, Ed Sheeran, Rudimental and Lewis Capaldi,Nina has become an accomplished performer with an ability to court fans from all over, including celebrity A-listers Chloë Grace Moretz and Taylor Swift. Now, it’s Australia’s turn to witness the next big thing in British pop music with three headline shows that are bound to impress.

Moby Rich

^^

When: Wednesday 29th May
Where: The Lansdowne, Sydney

LA two-piece MOBY RICH have announced two headline shows on their debut Australian tour this May. Alongside their national supporting tour with Broods, they’ll be showcasing their electro indie-pop hooks and visuals at Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club on May 18, and The Lansdowne in Sydney on May 29. Tickets for all shows go on sale at 12pm Friday, March 22. My Live Nation members can secure tickets first during the exclusive pre-sale beginning 10am on Thursday, March 21 until 10am Friday, March 22. For complete tour details and ticket information, visit: livenation.com.au. The pair – Maxwell Joseph and Connor Pledger – have been riding a wave of rave reviews following the release of debut single “Yoko Ono” last year. The track was quick to pick up traction, passing 1 million streams on Spotify, and was followed by their EP, aptly titled Our First EP. Released on Tap Records (run by Tap Management, who are behind the careers for Dua Lipa, Lana Del Rey and Angus & Julia Stone among others), the EP has drawn comparisons to early MGMT and the laidback beat making of N.E.R.D. Moby Rich have recently been touring the U.S. and Europe, including a sold-out debut London show at Dingwalls with half•alive and equally rammed US shows with SHAED. With their latest single ‘Blink’ bringing further attention to the duo, this Australian tour is the perfect opportunity to catch two indie stars on the rise. Support on the tour comes from yergurl in Melbourne, whose lo-fi beats and unique pop style made her a Triple J Unearthed favourite. Sydney support will be from Hoodlem, a streaming sensation with her mix of experimental soul and future R&B. “Flickering between a charming duet and belting bursts of indie-pop, Moby Rich continue to cement their youthful energy with compelling capability.” – ‘Blink’ single review, – The Line of Best Fit. “’Blink’…a catchy, summery, indie-pop song which heralds living in the moment…” – Coup De Main Magazine. “LA’s @mobyrichmusic brings us their infectious swagger on slick indie pop earworm Blink, rife with off-center texture and delightfully wobbling bass....” – I Heart Moosiq.

Northlane

^^

When: Friday 11th October
Where: UNSW Roundhouse

Sydney metallers, Northlane, announce the upcoming release of their fifth studio album, Alien, out August 2 via UNFD. For a band that have traditionally focused on wider issues in the outside world, Alien is easily the most personal statement of their career. "I was raised in hell but I made it out," says Northlane vocalist Marcus Bridge. "Raised in a place I shouldn't have been, and no child should have been. But I've been able to break free." Remarkably, there is hope to be found, particularly on first single, Bloodline. "Bloodline was one of the first songs that came about in the writing process for the album. When we were trying to decide what we wanted to write about, we decided early on that we wanted to keep the album pretty personal. I wanted to tell the stories of my upbringing and the ups and downs that come along with that." says Marcus Bridge. He adds, "It talks about that idea of growing up in a broken home despite all odds and what might be expected of someone who grows up like that. You are able to be what people think of you and break out of that spiral, that terrible world. For me, that's a mix of telling the story simple, but then it also tells some parts of my story in really fine detail. For example, the second verse goes into a lot of moments that I actually remember growing up and these landmarks- all these things I remember seeing. This song is a perfect way to sum up the album and also be the first toe in the water to be able to tell this story." Once again, Northlane teamed up with director Jason Eshraghian on the Bloodline video, who they've been collaborating with since 2014. Jason is best known for his cinematic use of visual effects and layered storytelling. The video follows the abusive relationship between a father and his son. Marcus says, "It was a pretty clear choice to work with Jason, who has done all our videos since I've joined the band." "We've grown as a band together with Jason. He understands the stories we're trying to tell through our videos. When it came down to the more personal subject, I don't think it would have been possible to do it with someone we hadn't worked with before because I don't know if I would have felt comfortable having someone that we hadn't worked with before telling this story and someone that doesn't really know me and know how I want to tell this story. "Jason delivered again, and this video is one of my favourite videos that I have ever done. It goes into some fine detail once again about that environment of growing up around parents who use drugs, violent parents and all that stuff that a lot of people do deal with that maybe don't feel comfortable talking about. This video is going to make you feel pretty uncomfortable, but I think it's a story that isn't really told often enough." October will see them returning to Australian home soil for their national headline tour supported by Counterparts, Silent Planet and Void of Vision.
