The Damned

^^

When: Thursday 22nd August
Where: Factory
Theatre

THE DAMNED are the greatest surviving British punk band, bar none, still firing on all cylinders and breaking all the rules. This most spiritually chaotic of all punk groups have never been away, never surrendered their ideals, always forged onwards and when Lemmy of Motörhead famously referred to them as “the only real punk band” you know they are the real deal. Forged in the hot fire of first wave punk, THE DAMNED have served as architects and archetypes of the genre. They have perennially refused to pander to the audience and thank God they don’t. Their live show is still as riotous as ever and “They have become, if possible, more eccentric and outrageous as they grow older, with many of their live traits coming across as delightfully raucous.” – The Independent.

Allday

^^

When: Saturday 24th August
Where: Hordern Pavilion

Renowned for making tender hit songs from his hybrid of hip hop, rap and pop, and then laying it all out on stage, today Allday announces a mammoth national Starry Night Over The Phone album tour set for August. Joining in for all tour dates are great friend and collaborator Mallrat, singer-songwriter E^ST and musician-on-the-rise JXN. The national dates will follow on from his anticipated return to the Splendour in the Grass stage where he will bring a rollcall of friends to help illuminate his upcoming third album. Hugely anticipated by fans and media alike, the album name has already been tattooed on one of his dedicated fans. The tour announce comes alongside the release of new track ‘Lungs’. A harder moment than the previous two tracks released ‘Wonder Drug’ and ‘Protection’, ‘Lungs’ sits deep in the groove, with every lyric delivered over a rolling melody displaying the relaxed delivery that Allday is known for. It’s a song that you can hear trickling out of cars as they roll through the streets.

The Angels with special guest Russell Morris

^^

When: Sunday 22nd September
Where: The Star Event Centre

With Special Guest: Russell Morris

Aussie rock legends The Angels will SHAKE IT UP for Parkinson’s research this September at a special concert at The Star Event Centre in Sydney. Supported by special guest Russell Morris the concert starts at 2pm on Sunday 22 September and will run through the afternoon finishing around 6pm. The Angels are currently touring to sell out concerts as part of their No Exit 40 Years On album tour so don’t miss out on this very special performance, with all funds raised supporting the Shake It Up Australia Foundation in their quest to find a cure for Parkinson’s due to the generosity of The Angels. John Brewster shares his reason for supporting Parkinson’s research. “In April 1985 The Angels were flying from Denver to Los Angeles. United Airlines had given the band complimentary upgrades to First Class. As we walked through the airport Brent Eccles nudged me and said "Wow, look over there. It's Muhammad Ali!" He was sitting surrounded by mostly children signing autographs. We boarded the plane, I took my seat and soon after this big guy sat next to me. I looked up and it was him! So, short story, we talked throughout the whole flight, him with that halting speech brought on by his Parkinson’s disease. At one stage he asked me if I had kids. I said "yes, I have a son, Sam, who is 2 years old". He asked for a piece of paper and drew this wonderful scene, mountains, ship on the sea, plane in the sky and sun beaming down. He signed it 'To John and Sam from Muhammad Ali April '85 with a smiley face' I enjoyed my time with him immensely and marveled at how well he was coping with Parkinson's.”You’ll hear songs from their No Exit 40 Years On album as well as classic hits like Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again.
